Srinagar, June 23 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the puppet authorities disallowed people from offering the Juma-tul-Wida prayers in Jamia Masjid Srinagar, today.

All roads leading to the grand mosque were sealed since early morning. Concertina wires were laid around the entry points.

Reports said that it was after the brutal Dogra regime that the Juma-tul-Wida prayers were not allowed in the historic mosque.

The Chairman of Hurriyet forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who delivers weekly Friday sermon at the Jamia Masjid, said that it was for the first time in the living memory of people that they were barred from offering Juma-tul-Wida prayers at the mosque.

He said that for the whole year Muslims of the Valley were waiting to offer prayers in Jamia Masjid on this most important last Friday of the holiest month of Ramadan to earn reward and seek forgiveness of Almighty Allah. “And even that right has been snatched from us by oppressors,” he deplored.

The Mirwaiz said such anti-Muslim and oppressive moves now come as no surprise to the people of occupied Kashmir, who each day are subject to various forms of human right violations and abuse which include interference in their religious rights.
