Srinagar, June 23 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Hurryet leaders and organizations held peaceful protest rallies against killings and detention of political leaders.

The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) leader, Noor Muhammad Kalwal led a protest programme near Budshah Chowk Lal Chowk, today.

Addressing on the occasion he has said that the genocide of Kashmiris is going on unabated but the international community is maintaining its criminal silence over this inhumanity.

Noor Muhammad Kalwal said while against killings and detention of political leaders. “We cannot remain silent spectators over this killing spree,” he added.

The call for today’s protest was given by the joint resistance leadership and JKLF leaders and activists including Noor Muhammad Kalwal, Mushtaq Ajmal, Muhammad Yasin Butt, Muhammad Sideeq Shah and Muhammad Haneef along with others gathered near Budshah Chowk Srinagar, and staged a peaceful protest.

Earlier the JKLF leaders while talking to protestors said that innocent killings in Kashmir are continuing unabated and holy month of Ramazan has actually seen a rise in this ugly phenomenon. They said that Indian army, police and forces were taking a sadistic pleasure while continuing their killing spree in Kashmir in the holy month of Ramazan.

They said that recent killings and acts of oppression especially in Pulwama, Sopore and other places have once again exposed the real face of Indian democracy and if the killing spree was not stopped Kashmiris would have no choice but to launch a full-fledged agitation against it.

The Tehreek-e-Hurriyet Jammu and Kashmir on the call of joint resistance leadership also held protest rallied in different parts of the territory and denounced the killing of innocent people and current arrest spree in the territory. The protesters on the occasion said that the use of brute force could not prevent Kashmiris from their democratic right to self-determination, adding that the freedom movement would be taken to its logical conclusion at all costs.
