Srinagar, June 27 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, many youth were arrested after anti-India protests rocked Kishtwar town before and after the Eid prayers on Monday. The district administration and police had made elaborated security arrangements to thwart any anti-India protests in the area. All the entry and exit points leading to Kishtwar town and the Eid prayer venue were sealed by erecting barbed wires. Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Ghulam Nabi Balwan and SSP Kishtwar Sandeep Wazir personally supervised the security arrangements.

While addressing the Eid gathering, Imam of Jamia Masjid Kishtwar Farooq Ahmed Kichloo said that the police and local administration harassed and arrested innocent youth in different cases. He demanded unconditional withdrawal of cases against the youth of Kishtwar.

Later as per centuries-old tradition, a procession was taken to the shrine of 17th century Sufi saint Hazrat Shah Mohammad Fareed-ud-Din Baghdadi. All the people later dispersed peacefully.

Meanwhile, pro-freedom, pro-Burhan Wani and anti India-slogans were also raised during the rally. However, with the intervention by the elders and senior police officers, the situation was brought under control.

Police is preparing a list of the youth who raised anti-India and pro-freedom protests in Kuleed and Wasser areas. Police is scrutinizing videos and photographic evidences of the Eid processions where anti-India and pro-freedom were raised.
