Srinagar, June 29 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian police have tightened noose around Kashmir’s resistance leaders and activists ahead of the martyrdom anniversary of Hizbul Mujahideen Commander, Burhan Wani.

21-year-old Commander Burhan Wani, the architect of the social-media driven psychological warfare in Kashmir, and two other mujahideen were martyred during a fake encounter by Indian troops in Kukarnag area of South Kashmir on July 08 last year.

The United Jihad Council (UJC) led by Hizbul Mujahideen Chief, Syed Salahudin has already announced a week-long protest from July 7 to 13 to commemorate Burhan’s martyrdom anniversary.

The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani has been confined to his Hyderpora house, the Hurriyet forum Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq too remains caged at his Nageen residence. Dozens of other Hurriyet leaders have either been lodged in various police stations or placed under house arrest.

Police raided the Hurriyet forum leader, Hilal Ahmed War at Maisuma but he wasn’t present there. War has gone into hiding. Another Hurriyet leader, Mukhtar Waza has been lodged at Sherbagh police station in Islamabad town. Javaid Ahmed Mir has also been placed under house arrest.

Muhammad Yasin Malik, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Zafar Akbar Butt, Firdous Ahmad Shah and Shaukat Bakhshi are in jails or in police stations.

The APHC Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar condemned the continued illegal detention of Hurriyet leaders, Altaf Ahmad Shah, Ayaz Mohammad Akbar and Merajuddin Kalwal, terming it as the worst kind of state terrorism.
