Srinagar, July 23 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, people staged a demonstration in Beerwah area of Budgam district against the cold-blooded murder of a youth, Tanveer Ahmed Wani, by Indian Army.
Tanveer Ahmad Wani was killed when a patrolling party of Indian Army personnel opened fire on protesting youth in Beerwah on Friday.
Many resistance leaders managed to reach the residence of the slain youth and later staged a peaceful protest against his killing. The youth accompanied the resistance leaders up to the martyrs’ graveyard where they offered fateha.
Eyewitnesses said that Indian forces’ personnel resorted to heavy teargas shelling to quell the protestors near Jammu and Kashmir Bank where Tanvir had been shot dead. They said that a youth sustained injuries in the forces’ action. They said that he was shifted to a local hospital from where he was referred to Soura Institute of Medical Science in Srinagar.
The Chairman of International Forum for Justice and Human Rights Jammu and Kashmir, Muhammad Ahsan Untoo, visited Beerwah and expressed solidarity with the family members of martyred Tanveer Ahmed Wani.
Meanwhile, the locals said that the forces’ personnel resorted to vandalism in Wani Mohallah. They said that the forces without any provocation damaged the windowpanes and doors of many houses.
On the other hand, the so-called Minister for Public Works, Naeem Akhtar, had to face angry protesters during his visit to Saalia area of Pahalgam. Nayeem Akhtar was accompanying the puppet Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, on a one-day tour of Islamabad district. Mehbooba Mufti took stock of several ongoing developmental projects and inaugurated a school at Saalia. As the puppet chief minister left the spot, Nayeem Akhtar stayed behind and visited another government school in the vicinity.
“He was inside the school when dozens of local youth assembled outside and started pelting stones at the school building,” eyewitnesses said. They said that Indian police resorted to teargas shelling to evacuate the so-called minister.
