Srinagar, July 23 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Hurriyet forum led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has said that the occupied territory is the world’s highest militarized zone where a common man is completely at mercy of Indian forces.
The forum spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the huge deployment of Indian troops and police personnel in every nook and corner of the territory was the prime reason for the rising graph of human rights violations. He said that so far not a single soldier or policeman involved in grave human rights abuses had been brought before the court of law. Probes ordered time and again and the commissions probing serious cases of human rights violations are just eyewash to ensure no solider is convicted, he deplored.
The spokesman said that the puppet regime especially the PDP had completely lost any faith that people had in it and became extremely weak and vulnerable; to stay in power. It has totally surrendered before the policy of oppression and repression pursued by New Delhi and its coalition partner (BJP) against the people of Kashmir, he added.
He urged the international forums and world human rights bodies to impress upon New Delhi to end its ever-growing war crimes in occupied Kashmir.
Referring to the thrashing of Kashmiri policemen by Indian Army at Gund, Ganderbal, the spokesman said, the incident has once again brought to fore the dangerous and serious situation in occupied Kashmir where even those who are at the forefront of following India’s agenda of repression are not spared because they are seen as Kashmiris and hence liable to be beaten, killed, tortured, maimed, blinded or whatever they (Indian soldiers) deem fit.
