Protest in Srinagar against arrests

Srinagar, July 28 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the leaders and activists of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) and other pro-freedom organizations, today, staged a peaceful protest near Budshah Chowk in Srinagar against the arrests by Indian National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Enforcement Directorate (ED) and release of killers troops involved in Machil fake encounter.

The JKLF leaders, Noor Muhammad Kalwal, Zahoor Ahmad Butt, Muhammad Yasin Butt, Muhammad Sideeq Shah, Sheikh Abdul Rasheed, Bashir Ahmad Kashmiri, Mushtaq Ahmad Khan and Tehreek-e-Hurriyat leader, Umar Aadil Dar gathered near Budshah Chowk and staged a peaceful protest. A large number of people from all walks of life joined the protest.

The protesters holding placards and banners against NIA marched from Madina Chowk towards Budshah Chowk and raised slogans in favour of Azadi (freedom).

The protest called by joint resistance leadership later ended peacefully.

The leaders of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat including Bashir Ahmed Qureshi and Nisar Hussain Rather led an anti-India demonstration at Hyderpora in Srinagar.

Meanwhile, ailing illegally detained JKLF Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik in a statement in Srinagar denounced the recent arrest of many resistance leaders by Indian NIA and ED.

Condemning the NIA and ED arrests and ongoing media trial he said that Indian agencies and biased Indian media at the behest of Indian government were trying to portray Kashmiris’ resistance movement as a sponsored one and corrupt. “They are propagating that Kashmiri youth sacrifice their lives for petty amounts and monetary benefits. They are saying that our students on whom parents spent thousands are protesting and bearing pellets and bullets for some hundred rupees. They want to make their people believe that in Kashmir everything is OK barring only few corrupt people who are hoodwinking whole Valley and causing trouble,” said JKLF chairman.

He said, it is actually an old tactic of colonial and occupational forces to defame people in resistance by labeling them as corrupt and casting shadows on their integrity but history bears a witness to the fact that such mean and oppressive tactics always fail to break the resolve of people who have decided to fight for their self-determination.
