Youth injured in troops’ firing succumbs in IOK Teenage boy blinded due to pellet injuries

Srinagar, August 02 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, a youth who sustained serious bullet injuries in the firing of Indian troops on protesters in Pulwama, yesterday, succumbed at a hospital in Srinagar, today.

The 22-year-old, Akeel Ahmad Butt, was injured when the troops fired bullets and pellets on mourners at Hakripara in Pulwama, yesterday. He was shifted to District Hospital, Pulwama, in a critical condition from where he was referred to Soura Institute of Medical Sciences in Srinagar. However, he succumbed to his injuries early this morning. He was a resident of Gabarpora Haal area of Pulwama.

Meanwhile, a teenage boy, Umar Fayaz, lost his both eyes to the pellets fired by the troops in Pulwama. Thy boy is the latest victim, who has been blinded by pellet ammunition used by the troops at Gooru in Pulwama district, yesterday.

He is the 71st person who suffered pellet injuries in both eyes during the ongoing mass uprising, which was triggered by the extra-judicial killing of popular youth leader, Burhan Wani, by Indian troops on July 8, last year.
