Kashmiris continue to be brutalized in IOK: Nafees Zakaria

Islamabad, August 31 (KMS): The Foreign Office Spokesman, Nafees Zakaria has said that oppressed people in occupied Kashmir continue to be brutalized by Indian forces.

Nafees Zakaria in his weekly briefing in Islamabad on Thursday said the Indian forces in their effort to suppress the Kashmiris’ indigenous legitimate movement for right to self-determination had martyred four more Kashmiris in Hajin, Bandipore and Pulwama areas.

Over forty defenseless Kashmiris were injured after Indian forces used brute force and barged into the houses in Srinagar, Pulwama, Pampore, Shopian and Hajin areas. We strongly condemn these brutal acts of the Indian forces in the occupied territory and urge the UN and international community to hold India accountable for these crimes against innocent civilians.

He expressed serious concern over continued illegal detention of senior resistance leaders, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Masarrat Aalam Butt and other hundreds of Hurriyet leaders, activists and students on fake charges.

On August 30, which is observed as international day of disappeared persons, peaceful protest was held at Pratap Park in Srinagar by the families and relatives of disappeared Kashmiris (around 8,000), who were either taken away by the Indian forces or were killed in fake encounters and buried in those thousands of unnamed and unmarked mass graves, some of those graves were discovered in 2009. Protest was led by Association of Parents of Disappeared Persons (APDP) leader, Parveena Ahangar.

“We all pray for relief of our Kashmiri brothers and sisters and end to their sufferings at the hands of Indian occupation forces,” he added.
