Dal Khalsa praises Kashmiris’

Srinagar, September 03 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has said that India and its puppet authorities have continued their autocratic policies of oppression even on the Muslim festival like Eid-ul-Azha.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who was placed under house arrest at his Nigeen residence a day before Eid telephonically addressed an Eid congregation in Srinagar. He said that the policy of muzzling genuine voices for freedom had failed in the past and would continue to fail in the future. The Mirwaiz urged the world human rights’ bodies to build pressure on India to stop committing war crimes in Kashmir.

Meanwhile, a resolution adopted by the people during the Eid congregations reiterated the resolve to continue the struggle to achieve inalienable right to self-determination, against all odds. The resolution condemned the campaign launched by India’s National Investigation Agency to malign resistance leadership. It vowed to resist the Indian attempts to abrogate Article 35A of the Indian constitution aimed at changing the demography of Jammu and Kashmir.

People took to the streets in Kupawara against the custodial disappearance of Kashmiri youth. The protesters raised anti-India and pro-freedom slogans.

Jammu and Kashmir Mass Movement Chairperson, Farida Behanji in a statement issued in Srinagar denounced India for subjecting people to the worst kind of state terrorism on the Muslim holy festival, Eid-ul-Azha. She termed it as an intervention in religious affairs and blatant violation of human rights.

The Amritsar-based Sikh organization, Dal Khalsa President H S Cheema in a statement eulogized the sacrifices of the Kashmiri people and said that they were being victimized by India for refusing to bow before New Delhi’s tyrannical rule. He pointed out that the cycle of death continued to haunt the Kashmiri people in the occupied territory.

On the other hand, a high intensity earthquake shook Kishtwar, Doda and other areas of Jammu region, today. Reports said that people rushed out of their homes as the quake struck the region before noon. There was no report of any loss of life or property.
