‘Keep doors of Tihar Jail open, we are coming’, JRL asks NIA » Kashmir Media Service

Srinagar, September 06(KMS): In occupied Kashmir, top resistance leaders Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik will go to National Investigation Agency’s headquarters in New Delhi on Saturday to court arrest against NIA’s policies in the territory.

The leaders while addressing a press conference outside Jamia Masjid in Srinagar, today, said that NIA was committing terrorism and that Kashmiri people had rejected its anti-movement and anti-Hurriyet policies. They said that the NIA was doing all this to defame Hurriyat leadership as well as the struggle for right to self-determination.

The leaders also staged a sit-in protest on the occasion. They asked Indian government to ‘keep doors of Tihar Jail open, we are coming’.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Muhammad Yasin Malik and were personally present in the sit-in, while Syed Ali Gilani addressed the participants of the protest, telephonically.

The leaders said that illegal detention of Aasiya Andrabi and Sofi Fehmeeda, arrest of Hurriyat leaders by NIA in New Delhi and army operation in South Kashmir were part of Indian plan to suppress the Kashmiris’ freedom movement.

Muhammad Yasin Malik on the occasion told reporters that he along with Syed Ali Gilani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq would go to NIA headquarters on Saturday and would court arrest.

Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi, Hilal Ahmad War and Tehreek-e-Hurriyat leaders were also present on the occasion.

Meanwhile, photo and video journalists held a peaceful protest outside DC office in Pulwama against the detention of a local photojournalist, Kamran Yousuf, by NIA. Holding banners, the media men demanded an immediate release of the detained journalist. “Kamran Yousuf is a Journalist not a stone pelter” and “Free Journalist Kamran Yousuf Arrested by NIA” read the banners.
