New Delhi, September 08 (KMS): The President of Kashmir High Court Bar Association, Mian Abdul Qayoom has faced hard questions from high-ranking officials of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in New Delhi.

Mian Abdul Qayoom was summoned to New Delhi by the NIA and was questioned for hours. The NIA has presented him as a witness in the fake case of funding from Pakistan to Kashmir.

Advocate Arshad Andrabi, who is part of an 8-member HCBA team accompanying Mian Qayoom to Delhi, in a media interview, said that the Bar President was questioned for around five hours and was asked hard questions ranging from politics to his profession.

He said that Mian Qayoom told the NIA investigators that he is a lawyer by profession and fights for the rights of his people. He said that the HCBA President was asked by the NIA officials to return to Delhi on September 14 for further questioning.

A Bar Association member said that Mian Qayoom had volunteered to go to Delhi, even though he could have asked the NIA Investigation Officer to record his statement from his home.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Aslam Wani, who was arrested in a fake case, told a court in New Delhi that there was no material or evidence against him in the case. He made the statement in a bail application he moved before the court, following which Additional Sessions Judge, Sidharth Sharma had sought response from India’s Enforcement Directorate (ED) by September 7. The ED opposed the bail plea of Aslam Wani.
