Srinagar, September 09 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, media associations have demanded of India’s National Investigating Agency (NIA) to come clear on the charges being slapped on the photojournalist, Kamran Yousuf.

A joint meeting of the Kashmir TV Journalists Guild, Kashmir Journalist Corps, Kashmir Video Journalists Association and Kashmir Press Photographers Association was held in Srinagar in wake of the recent arrest of Kamran Yousuf by the NIA.

The associations in a joint statement said, “The members in the meeting unanimously agreed that everyone among their associations have known Kamran Yousuf as a freelance media professional working from south Kashmir.” The meeting asked the NIA to come clear on the charges being slapped on Kamran Yousuf, the statement said.

It said that all the associations in the meeting decided to hold a joint symbolic sit-in protest, the date of which will be decided in the next joint meeting. The decision has been taken in the wake of busy schedule of all the journalists following Indian home minister’s visit to occupied Kashmir, it added.
