Mirwaiz forum flays continued restrictions in Srinagar » Kashmir Media Service

Srinagar, September 11 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Hurriyat forum led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has condemned the continued imposition of curfew and other restrictions in Srinagar.

The forum spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said, “The city areas have been converted into a military fortress. Caging lakhs of people in their own houses causes them great distress and hardships. It is an ultimate form of state highhandedness.”

“Illegal confinement of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Syed Ali Gilani in their own homes while detaining Muhammad Yasin Malik at Central Jail defy all claims to democracy and are simply revengeful,” the statement added.

“Complete response evoked to the strike call by Joint leadership on the Indian Home Minister’s visit to Kashmir has once again proved that Kashmir is not a law and order issue or an internal matter of Delhi but it is human and political issue which needs to be resolved by accepting its disputed nature and giving the people their promised right to self-determination,” the statement said.

The Hurriyat forum paid tributes to three youth killed by troops in Sopore and Shopian stating that the Kashmiri youth were sadly being pushed to the wall due to the continued oppression and military approach of New Delhi in dealing with the Kashmir dispute.
