Srinagar, September 16 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the High Court Bar Association has said that India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) has given clean chit to its President, Mian Abdul Qayoom, after subjecting him to harassment and questioning in New Delhi.

The HCBA in a statement issued in Srinagar said that all allegations against Qayoom as displayed by some Indian TV Channels had been found baseless and unfounded.

Meanwhile, the HCBA has thanked the office-holders of all Bar Associations of the territory for extending full support to Mian Abdul Qayoom and for observing complete strike on Thursday and Friday to express solidarity with him.

Earlier, the members of High Court Bar Association staged protest on Friday against the summoning of Mian Qayoom by NIA. The protesting lawyers said that Mian Qayoom had been called to Delhi several times without any reason or charge.

“Freedom is our sentiment. Freedom is our national physiology. We can never compromise our rights and interests. We want secure future for the people in Pakistan, for the people in India, and for the people in Jammu and Kashmir,” they said.

The HCBA also condemned the biased reporting of some of New Delhi media saying “We are thankful to them to show us the real face of India towards the Kashmiris”.
