Islamabad, September 21 (KMS): Foreign Office Spokesman, Nafees Zakaria, has strongly condemned continued killing of innocent Kashmiris by Indian troops in staged encounters in occupied Kashmir.

Nafees Zakaria in his weekly briefing in Islamabad, today, said that while in New York 72nd session of UN General Assembly and in Geneva 36th session of Human Rights Council were in progress, Indian forces martyred four more youth in Srinagar and Kupwara during last 6 days.

He said that at least two dozen Kashmiris were injured after Indian forces used brute force in different parts of occupied Kashmir. He said continued illegal detention of Hurriyet leaders, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Masarrat Aalam Butt, Aasiya Andrabi, Fahmeeda Sofi and over six hundred other Hurriyet leaders, activists and students on fake cases, languishing in different jails of Kashmir and India, is deplorable and a matter of concern.

He deplored that the people of occupied Kashmir were denied Juma prayers at Jamia Masjid in Srinagar, last week, also in violation of human rights and religious freedom.

He informed that OIC Contact Group on Jammu and Kashmir held a successful meeting in New York, chaired by the OIC Secretary General. Deputy Prime Minister of Turkey, foreign minister and representatives of Pakistan, Azerbaijan, Saudi Arabia, Niger and OIC SG’s Special Envoy on J&K, Abdullah Alim, participated.

He said that the Foreign Minister, Khawaja Asif, spoke of the human rights violations and denial of the right to self-determination of the Kashmiri people which has been promised to them in the UN Security Council’s resolutions. President of AJK, Sardar Masood Khan, highlighted the plight of the people of occupied Kashmir. The True Representatives of Kashmiri people presented a memorandum to the OIC Contact Group, he added.
