Denounces restrictions on Muharram processions in IOK
Srinagar, September 30 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Gilani, has expressed serious concern over the increasing lawlessness, harassment, bullying by Indian forces’ personnel and incidents of braid chopping in the territory.
Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar suspected the involvement of Indian forces in the braid chopping incidents and said in a highly militarized zone, the culprits go unnoticed. He said the silence and incapability of the puppet authorities speaks volumes about the grave situation. It is highly condemnable that despite attacks on modesty of womenfolk by these mysterious elements, the authorities are not ashamed of their failure, he said.
“Braid chopping is quite unacceptable offence and an attack on the modesty of women. Keeping in mind the criminal silence maintained by police, people should act accordingly and expose and unveil (the) agencies involved in this heinous crime,” he maintained.
The APHC Chairman referring to similar type of events that haunted people in past said that the authorities while creating scare set ablaze properties and localities during dead of night and even people were harassed by creating false impression of ghosts. However, all these evil designs failed and were exposed by the people, he added.
Syed Ali Gilani also condemned the puppet regime for imposing restrictions in Srinagar to prevent people from taking out Muharram processions. He said, restricting peaceful religious rituals is direct interference in religious matters of the people. He said that despite announcements related to Aashura processions, the religious leaders including Nisar Hussain Rather, Muhammad Yousuf Nadeem, Imtiyaz Haider, Ayaz Ahmed Butt, Ali Muhammad Rather, Bashir Ahmed Lone, Syed Showkat Madani, Ali Muhammad Najar and hundreds of other activists were arrested and lodged in police stations.
He also denounced the arrest of General Secretary of Peoples Freedom League, Muhammad Ramzan Khan. Muhammad Ramzan Khan was arrested by the authorities, booked under PSA and shifted to Kot Bhalwal Jail in Jammu.
Meanwhile, APHC leaders, Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi and Zamruda Habib, in their statements in Srinagar condemned the use of force on mourners. They said, the puppet authorities welcome Hindu yatris during Amarnath Yatra but thrash Muslims for organizing peaceful religious processions.
