Incidents of braid cutting continue in IOK
Srinagar, October 05 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference has expressed deep concern over the vengeful attitude of the authorities of New Delhi’s Tihar Jail against Kashmiri political prisoners, saying they are being subjected to mental agony and torture.

The APHC General Secretary Ghulam Nabi Sumjhi in a statement issued in Srinagar said that two Kashmiri prisoners Muhammad Shafiq and Javed Ahmad were mercilessly beaten by Hindu hooligans in Tihar jail. The Secretary General apprehended threats to the life of Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Altaf Ahmed Shah, Ayaz Muhammad Akbar, Pir Saifullah, Raja Merajuddin Kalwal, Nayeem Ahmed Khan, Farooq Ahmed Dar, Shahid-ul-Islam, Muzaffar Ahmed Dar, Muhammad Aslam Wani, Dr Ghulam Mohammad Butt and Zahoor Ahmad Watali in the jail.

Ghulam Nabi Sumjhi paid rich tributes to imprisoned resistance leaders Masarrat Aalam Butt, Aasiya Andrabi, Fehmida Sofi, Mushtaqul Islam, Ghulam Muhammad Khan Sopori, Sarjan Barkati and others for their steadfastness.

Dr Muhammad Qasim Fakhtoo, the Chief of Muslim Deeni Mahaz, in his message from Srinagar central jail, pointed out that the attacks on Kashmiri prisoners in jails were carried out by jail authorities through communal elements. Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Freedom League appealed the international community to ensure early release of all Kashmiri detainees.

Meanwhile, the joint resistance leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik in a statement called for protests tomorrow on Friday against rising incidents of braid chopping in the Kashmir Valley. The leadership said that Indian establishment and puppet regime were behind these incidents. Five more such incidents took place in Bandipora, Baramulla, Pattan, Pampur and Tral, today. The agents of India security agencies barge into the houses, use chemicals to render women unconscious and then cut their braids.

Hurriyat leaders; Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, Jahangir Ghani Butt, Muhammad Yousuf Mir and Yasmin Raja addressing their party and other meetings in Srinagar called for the settlement of Kashmir dispute through result-oriented talks among all stakeholders including the genuine leadership of Kashmiri people.

The High Court Bar Association of occupied Kashmir in an affidavit submitted to the Indian Supreme Court mentioned that the so-called accession of Jammu and Kashmir to India was mysterious and controversial, and was the cause of Kashmiris’ uprising against Indian occupation. The Bar Association said that every election in the occupied territory was rigged.
