Hurriyat leaders detained, Srinagar Jamia Majid sealed

Srinagar, October 06 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, people including women staged massive demonstrations across the territory, today, to protest against the incessant braid-chopping incidents calling it a conspiracy masterminded by the Indian agencies to create sense of insecurity and fear-psychosis among the masses particularly womenfolk.

Call for the demonstrations was given by the Joint Resistance leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik. The puppet authorities imposed restrictions in Srinagar and sealed Jamia Masjid, disallowing the Juma prayers at the historic mosque. Mobile, internet and train services were suspended. In the new method of state terrorism, the agents of Indian security agencies barge into the houses, use chemicals to make women unconscious and then cut their braids.

Defying restrictions, scores of Hurriyat leaders and activists held demonstrations in Hyderpora, Soura, Maisuma, Aabi Guzar, Khanyar, Panta Choke and other areas of Srinagar and raised anti-India and pro-freedom slogans. The protesters were led by Hurriyat leaders including Nisar Hussain Rather, Noor Muhammad Kalwal, Hilal Ahmed War, Molvi Bashir Urfani, Syed Imtiyaz Haider, Mushtaq Ahmed Sofi and Muhammad Yasin Attai. The demonstrators said that the Indian agencies were behind such incidents. People including women and children also took to the streets in Badgam, Ganderbal, Islamabad, Pampore, Tral, Pulwama, Sopore, Baramulla, Kupwara, Bandipore, Shopian, Kulgam and other areas. Raising high-pitched slogans in favour of freedom and against India, the protesters demanded of the puppet administration to expose the culprits of the attacks on women. Indian police and troops used brute force on protesters at various places injuring many of them. The police also arrested dozens of youth during the demonstrations.

The puppet authorities arrested Muhammad Yasin Malik after raiding his residence, today. The authorities also placed Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house arrest while Syed Ali Gilani and Zafar Akbar Butt were already under house detention. Hurriyat leaders, Hakeem Abdur Rasheed and Muhammad Ashraf Laya were also arrested. The action was aimed at stopping them from leading the protests.

Meanwhile, three more incidents of braid-cutting were reported from Srinagar and Baramulla areas. Unknown persons chopped off the beard of an Imam Masjid at Futlipora in Charar-e-Sharief area of Budgam district, today. The residents told media that Molvi Ghulam Nabi Ghorsi was on his way to a local masjid early this morning to lead Fajr prayers when unknown persons caught hold of him and forcibly cut off his beard.
