Srinagar, October 06 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Kashmir Economic Alliance, an amalgam of representative bodies of traders, hoteliers and transporters, held a rally in Srinagar to protest against the braid-cutting incidents across the territory.

Holding placards and shouting slogans, the traders assembled at Press Enclave in Srinagar to lodge their protest.

The KEA Co-Chairman, Farooq Ahmad Dar, addressing media persons on the occasion expressed serious concern over the incidents of braid-cutting in the occupied territory. He urged Mohalla and Masjid committees to keep close vigil on the miscreants involved in the immoral activities to expose them in public.

Farooq Ahmad Dar said that the mass hysteria had gripped the whole territory and it was really frustrating as to how the puppet administration was not able to identify and arrest the persons responsible for these acts.

Meanwhile, the members of Chamber of Commerce and Industries Kashmir (CCIK) at a meeting in Srinagar expressed concern over the harassment meted out to the women by way of braid-chopping. They condemned these heinous acts in strong terms.

On the other hand, people including women and children staged demonstrations in Srinagar, Baramulla and Pulwama areas against the unrelenting incidents of braid-chopping across the occupied territory. Indian police swung into action and subjected the protesters to teargas shelling, triggering clashes between the demonstrators and the police personnel.

College students and other youth staged a sit-in near main chowk in Pulwama against the harassment of women through braid-chopping incidents. They demanded stern action against the perpetrators of this brutality.
