Srinagar, October 07 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, people mostly women held forceful demonstrations in Srinagar and Pulwama areas today after three incidents of braid-cutting.

People took to the streets in Chattabal area of Srinagar and held protests against the chopping of the braid of a girl. Indian police used brute force to disperse the protesters, triggering clashes between the demonstrators and the police personnel.

Local people said that during the intervening night of Friday and Saturday, unknown persons entered a house and chopped the braid of a girl. The victim girl was identified as Maryam.

“Two unknown persons including a girl entered Maryam’s house at around 10:00pm and chopped her hair. “We tried to catch hold of them but they managed to escape,” a local said.

Meanwhile, a large number of people, mostly women, took to the streets in Manghama and Pahoo villages of Pulwama district after braids of two women were chopped off. The protesters raised pro-freedom and anti-India slogans. They said that the puppet regime had failed to provide safety to them.

It is to mention here that the agents of Indian secret agencies in a new method of state terrorism to create a sense of insecurity and fear-psychosis among the masses spray some chemical on the face of women to make them unconscious and then cut their braids. More than sixty such incidents have been reported from across the occupied territory during the past few weeks.
