Srinagar, October 09 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Jamaat-e-Islami has said that braid chopping incidents are aimed at creating an atmosphere of fear and harassment among general masses in the territory.

Jamaat-e-Islami spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said: “It also seems to be a well-thought-out plan to cause disintegration and a sense of harassment in the society. The anti-social elements involved in carrying out these incidents seem to be well-trained and well-equipped group.”

He suggested to the people to form local committees consisting of the sensible virtuous persons to keep vigil on the activities of the known ruffians and the strangers with suspicious movements without getting panicky and issue necessary advisories to the people particularly the women folk for their safeguard.

He denounced the indifferent and passive role of the police which utterly failed to nab the culprits. The committee members if so formed are requested not to allow anybody harass or intimidate any innocent, whether local or from the outside in any way, he added.
