Srinagar, October 11 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the resistance leaders have criticized the Indian authorities for shielding the culprits involved in braid-chopping incidents across the Valley.

Expressing deep concern over the unabated shameful, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani, in a statement said information received suggests that these disgraceful activities are being carried out with active support of Indian forces and agencies.

The Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in his statement said occupation authorities and police are adopting a lackadaisical approach in curbing rising incidents of braid-chopping. He feared that some agencies, backed by those in power, were behind the braid-chopping incidents.

The Mirwaiz urged people to make the march towards TRC called by the joint resistance leadership on October 14 a success to show solidarity with hundreds of resistance leaders, youth and elderly lodged in jails. “People’s participation in the rally will also be a message to New Delhi that Kashmiris continue to remain steadfast towards their goal,” he said.

The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chief, Muhammad Yasin Malik condemned the incidents of braid-chopping and said that these attacks were intended to create fear-psychosis among the Kashmiris and make their lives more vulnerable.

“But perpetuators of these cowardly acts should remember that Kashmiris can never be bogged down by these kinds of condemnable acts,” he said. He termed the authorities’ failures to identify the culprits involved in the braid-cutting acts as surprising.
