Srinagar, October 14 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, people held forceful demonstrations in Boniyar area of Uri in Baramulla district against a fresh incident of braid-chopping, today.

People took to streets and staged protests after police took custody of an alleged braid-chopper. Witnesses said that the residents caught hold of a youth who they said was behind the braid-cutting incident.

However, Indian police arrived at the scene and took custody of the braid-chopper, said a local, adding that it angered the residents who staged protests. Indian police fired pellets and teargas shells to disperse the protesters, injuring several of them.

A doctor from Boniyar told media men that nine people have suffered pellet injuries.
