Srinagar, October 16 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has said that efforts aimed at changing the disputed nature of Kashmir are doomed to fail.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a statement issued in Srinagar said that innocent persons would continue to get killed as long as forces enjoy unbridled powers and the dispute on Kashmir remains unresolved.

He paid rich tributes to Gulzar Ahmed Mir and expressed solidarity and sympathy with his family members. He also prayed for the speedy recovery of those who got injured in forces’ firing.

Reiterating that Kashmir dispute is basically human and political in nature, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq reminded the Indian government that it couldn’t be resolved by means of military might and killing people.

“It is unfortunate that the Indian government continues with its iron fist policy in Kashmir to muzzle the genuine struggle while as all tools are being employed to change the basic nature of the long-pending dispute,” Mirwaiz said.

He said in past, many efforts were made to change the dispute nature of Kashmir, but all such moves failed and will continue to fail as world community including UN is witness that there are 18 pending resolutions in UNSC which guarantee the right to self-determination to people of Kashmir.

The Mirwaiz strongly condemned the killing of a civilian Gulzar Ahmed Mir at Litter, Pulwama, in forces’ firing on Saturday which left dozens others seriously injured.

Paying rich tributes to Gulzar Ahmed Mir, Mirwaiz expressed solidarity and sympathy with his family members. He also prayed for speedy recovery of those injured in forces’ firing.

Meanwhile, Mirwaiz paid glorious tributes to Waseem Shah and Nasir killed in a siege and search operation at Litter, Pulwama.
