Srinagar, October 16 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, protests erupted in Sopore area of Baramulla district on Monday after a woman’s braid was chopped off in the town.

A woman of Ningli area of Sopore, in her fifties, said braid choppers broke into her house and cut her braid. This is the third such incident in the area in less than twenty-four hours. Yesterday, two women said their braids were chopped off.

Youth took to streets and pelted the forces deployed in the town with stones. Shutdown was also observed in the town against the rising braid-chopping incidents in the town.

Hair of over 100 young girls and women in many parts of the Valley has been found chopped during the past month.

These girls and women have told their families and police that braid choppers cut their hair after knocking them unconscious with some spray.
