Srinagar, October 18 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik has urged India to accept ground realities on Kashmir and respect the aspirations of Kashmiri people.

The leadership in a joint statement in Srinagar said, “This would not only pave the way for Kashmir resolution but will also be in the larger interest of people of India.”

The statement said that pro-freedom leaders were being implicated in false cases and condemned the extension of judicial remand of Altaf Ahmad Shah, Ayaz Muhammad Akbar, Shahid-ul-Islam, Pir Saifullah, Raja Merajuddin Kalwal, Nayeem Khan, Farooq Ahamd Dar and businessman Zahoor Ahmad Watali. They are in custody of India’s National Investigation Agency.

“This is sheer political vengeance. However, such tactics cannot break their will,” they said. The leadership expressed concern over deteriorating health of Shabbir Ahmad Shah. “We also condemn the inhuman attitude of the jail authorities towards the detained leaders.”

“NIA has been tasked with the sole objective of defaming Kashmiris. Summoning of all sections of Kashmiri society including lawyers, businessmen, journalists, students, scholars for questioning to Delhi clearly shows that how they are subjected to political vengeance and also to put the basic issue under carpet,” the leaders said.

“Instead of using NIA as a weapon, New Delhi should accept the ground realities and respect the aspirations of Kashmiris. This would not only pave the way for Kashmir resolution but will be in the larger interests of people of India,” Gilani, Mirwaiz and Malik said.
