Srinagar, October 18 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, intense clashes erupted in Islamic University of Science and Technology in Awantipora area of Pulwama, today, after students of the varsity protested against the continued arrest of their colleague, Junaid Ahmad Aakhoon.

Junaid was arrested by police on Sunday from his house in Aragam village of Awantipora.

Students staged a massive protest demonstration in the University campus against the arrest of the student. They marched on the main road and blocked traffic movement. Police used force on the protesting to students to ensure vehicular movement on the road. The police’s action triggered clashes, and students pelted stones on the police, present outside the campus of the varsity. Police fired teargas shells inside the campus.

Akhoon is a student of Polytechnic College at IUST. A police official said that Junaid was in under detention for questioning.
