Srinagar, October 20 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik has called for a complete shutdown tomorrow (Saturday) against the unabated braid chopping incidents.

The resistance leaders in a joint statement issued in Srinagar after a meeting at the Hyderpora residence of Syed Ali Gilani on Thursday night appealed to the Kashmiri people to observe civil curfew tomorrow.

The statement said that the leaders in the meeting discussed the current situation in occupied Kashmir besides the braid cutting incidents and efforts to abrogate state subject laws. They termed the braid cutting incidents as an Indian ploy to target women in the territory through specially trained persons, it added.

The statement said that the Hurriyat leaders criticized the police for its failure to arrest the braid-cutters. It is nothing but a criminal silence on the part of the police force which is condemnable, it added.

The statement said that the leaders also appealed to the people not to punish suspects of braid chopping and instead hand them over to masjid committees or other responsible individuals.

Meanwhile, the Kashmir University has postponed all the examinations scheduled for tomorrow.

“Fresh dates for the deferred examinations shall be notified separately, later,” the KU spokesman said in a statement.
