Srinagar, October 20 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the puppet authorities have declared thousands of kanals of land as firing range for the Indian Army in Akhnoor district of Jammu for ten years.

On June 8, the authorities declared more than 82 kanals of land to be used by the army for firing and artillery use in Udhampur.

In March this year, the puppet administration declared nearly five lakh kanals of land as firing range in cold desert of Leh in Ladakh region for five years. Earlier, the authorities notified a large chunk of land in Ramban to be used for firing and artillery purposes by the Indian Army.

Earlier, Indian Army had used Tosa Maidan area of Badgam for decades. Nearly 50 residents living around the Tosa Maidan meadow are said to have lost their lives while hundreds of others were rendered crippled for life to stray or unexploded shells left by the Indian Army.

On the other hand, Indian Army and paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) have sought a fresh ban on the sale of combat uniform in occupied Kashmir especially in the Valley.

The forces operating in the Valley have written to the Indian Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Home Affairs demanding strict ban on the purchase of combat uniform.
