Srinagar, October 20 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the authorities have arrested the Chairman of Ummat-e-Islami and prominent religious scholar, Qazi Ahmed Yasir, today, along with other party leaders.

Qazi Ahmed Yasir was arrested near Awantipora and was lodged in police station, Awantipora. He was on his way to Tral to address a public meeting at Khanqah-e-Shah Hamdan in Tral.

The Ummat-e-Islami spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar strongly condemned the arrest of party Chairman, Qazi Ahmed Yasir and other party leaders and described it interference in religious affairs. He said that arrests and harassment could not suppress the people of Kashmir from securing their right to self-determination and would continue it till taking it to its logical conclusion.
