Srinagar, October 20 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, a spontaneous shutdown is being observed in Hajin area of Bandipora district, today, after Indian troops used brute force against peaceful protesters.

The troops fired teargas shells to disperse the protesters in main Hajin market, triggering clashes between the demonstrators and the troops. After the clashes, shopkeepers downed their shutters and ran for safety.

Meanwhile, people held demonstrations in Dargah and Nigeen areas of Srinagar. Locals told media the protests erupted following a fresh incident of braid chopping in the area. People in Hazratbal area of Srinagar are staging demonstrations and observing shutdown over a braid chopping incident that took place in Dhobi Ghat area on Wednesday. The locals said that they caught a braid chopper on Thursday who was later rescued by Indian police and set free.

On the other hand, member of the so-called Kashmir Assembly, Engineer Abdur Rasheed, led a demonstration in Handwara against braid chopping incidents in the territory. Addressing the protesters at Main Chowk, Handwara, he said that the puppet administration was duty-bound to nab the culprits and find out the miscreants behind these shameful incidents.

It is to mention here that Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik has called for demonstrations across the occupied territory to register protest against the incessant incidents of braid-cutting.
