Denmark, October 21 (KMS): A Kashmir conference titled “Kashmiris’ right to self-determination and human rights violations in Kashmir” was organised by Tehreek-e-Kashmir Denmark at Parliament of Denmark.

President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Sardar Masood Khan was the chief guest of the conference while Convener of All Parties Kashmir Liaison Council and MLA, Abdur Rasheed Turabi, President Tehreek-e-Kashmir Europe, Muhammad Ghalib, President of Kashmir Movement UK, Raja Faheem Kyani, members of Danish Parliament, APHC-AJK Convener, Ghulam Muhammad Safi and other Kashmiri leaders from across the Europe participated in the conference.

Sardar Masood Khan said that the people of Kashmir were facing egregious human rights crimes on a daily basis which had made their lives miserable. Draconian laws like Public Safety Act and Armed Forces Special Powers Act have been imposed in occupied Kashmir which are not only discriminatory but also provide the occupation forces unbridled power to commit war crimes in the occupied territory, he added.

Sardar Masood Khan said due to the inattention of the international community the plight of the people of Kashmir had gone unnoticed for the past seven decades. “Kashmiris are persecuted, young men are ruthlessly murdered, women are dishonored, civilians are blinded by pellet gun fire and their homes ransacked and destroyed on a daily basis,” he deplored.

He said India have denied the unarmed innocent Kashmiris their right to self-defense and instead demonized this indigenous freedom struggle as an act of terrorism and labeled the Kashmiris as traitors.

Abdur Rashid Turabi said if the Kashmir dispute was not settled peacefully, it could trigger nuclear war between Pakistan and India and the whole world would be affected. He said that it was also the responsibility of European countries and European Union to put pressure on India to settle the lingering Kashmir dispute in accordance with the Kashmiris’ aspirations.

Abdur Rashid Turabi said that Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi was planning to convert the Muslim majority status of Jammu and Kashmir into minority by settling non-Kashmiris in the territory. He said that India was committing genocide in occupied Kashmir, adding that innocent Kashmiris were being killed due to invoking of draconian laws like Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) and Public Safety Act (PSA). He said that the international community should also fulfill its responsibility towards settlement of the lingering dispute.

The members of Danish parliament, Zenia Stampe and Charlotte Burgess, on the occasion assured that they in past had supported the Kashmiris and would continue this support in the future as well.

Muhammad Ghalib said that Kashmir dispute had been projected in the whole Europe. Raja Faheem Kyani, thanking the government and people of Norway, said that they had always sided with the Kashmiris.

Ghulam Muhammad Safi, Ansar Manzoor Hussain, Adeel Ahmad Aasi, Syed Zulfikar Gurdezi, Muzammil Ayub, Mian Muneer Hussain, Zafar Ahmad and other Kashmiri leaders also addressed the seminar.
