Srinagar, October 24 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir
Salvation Movement (JKSM) has strongly denounced the continued house arrest of its Chairman, Zafar Akbar Butt.

The JKSM spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said that Zafar Akbar Butt was being prevented forcibly from conducting his religious, social and political activities. He said that the party chairman’s house detention had no legal or constitutional justifications and the police had held him captive merely on gun point.

He said that since 2003 till now, Zafar Akbar was kept under house arrest for 1000 days. “From last two months he has not been allowed to come out of his house even for a single day therefore he missed all Friday prayers during this period,” he added.

The spokesman said that revengeful approach by the puppet authorities against Zafar Butt could not break his resolve. The authorities have completely failed in facing the pro-freedom leadership on political turf and they are using state machinery to suppress their voice, he said, and appealed to the world human rights organizations to take notice of this state terrorism and use their influence for release of all pro-freedom leaders.
