Troops launch massive operation in Shopian

Srinagar, October 25 (KMS): Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and the world over will observe Black Day on Friday, the 27th October, to convey to the world that India has occupied Jammu and Kashmir against their will and is denying them their inalienable right to self-determination.

It was on 27th October in 1947 when Indian troops invaded Jammu and Kashmir and occupied it in total violation of the Partition Plan of the Subcontinent and against the Kashmiris’ aspirations.

The day will be marked with a complete shutdown in occupied Kashmir and rallies in world capitals. Call for the shutdown has been given by the Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik and supported by other pro-freedom organizations.

Meanwhile, the forum led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a statement in Srinagar expressed serious concern over the plight of Hurriyat leaders lodged in Tihar Jail and other jails of India and the occupied territory. It said that the detention of these leaders was being prolonged on one pretext or the other.

Members of civil society including former bureaucrats, academicians, businessmen, doctors, human rights activists and retired judges addressing a seminar in Srinagar said that braid chopping incidents were orchestrated to serve the interest of the Indian state and to create a sense of fear among the masses. The speakers included Justice retired Husnain Masoodi, Shakeel Qalander, Professor Siddiq Wahid, Professor Hameeda Nayeem, Professor Nisar Ali, Parveena Ahanger, Ghulam Rasool Sofi, Ruksana Jabeen and Zareef Ahmad Zareef. People held a demonstration at Brakpora in Islamabad district against a fresh incident of braid chopping in the area.

Indian troops launched massive cordon and search operations in more than a dozen villages in Shopian district, today, causing huge inconvenience to the people. Indian police booked a youth from Ganderbal under draconian law, Public Safety Act, and shifted him to Kot Bhalwal Jail in Jammu.

On the other hand, a Delhi court sent Syed Shahid Yousuf, son of prominent freedom leader, Syed Salahuddin, to seven days remand of India’s National Investigation Agency in a false case. The family members of Shahid Yousuf in a statement in Srinagar said that he was arrested to force Syed Salahuddin into submission. The JKLF Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik in a statement said that arrests of sons for fathers had been a long ploy of Indian occupation authorities. He termed the arrest of Shahid Yousuf as political vendetta. The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir chapter at a meeting in Islamabad also denounced the arrest of Syed Salahuddin’s son.
