Islamabad, October 26 (KMS): The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Freedom League (JKPFL), Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, has said the chief factor responsible for the Pakistan-India tension and plight of the Kashmiris is the 70 years long Indian military presence in Kashmir and continuous flouting of the UNCIP resolutions by India since late 1940s.

Muhammad Farooq Rehmani in a statement issued in Islamabad on the eve of Indian invasion on Jammu and Kashmir and forcible occupation of the territory in 1947 said a sustained dialogue on Kashmir is the only peaceful method to settle the dispute. He said India’s track record has been treacherously discouraging and no talks could yield positive results without the involvement of the Kashmiris in these talks.

The JKPFL Chairman said that the people of Kashmir had no faith in India’s words; therefore, they observe October 27 as Black Day and had welcomed Pakistan also joining Kashmiris in their protests on this day everywhere. “The Kashmiris are in psychological trauma because of India’s military repression on men, women and children: killing and blinding of people, braid-cutting of women, imprisonment and detention of people under draconian laws,” he added.

Muhammad Farooq Rehmani called upon the United Nations to facilitate resolution of the dispute by compelling India to create conducive atmosphere in the territory for moving towards the peaceful resolution of this 70-year-old question.
