Srinagar, October 26 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Hurriyat leaders have urged the settlement of Kashmir dispute through implementation of the relevant resolutions of the United Nations.

Hurriyat leaders, Shabbir Ahmad Dar, Muhammad Iqbal Mir, Muhammad Ahsan Untoo and Imtiyaz Ahmad Reshi led a peaceful protest in Srinagar in connection with October 27 illegal occupation of Kashmir by India.

Speaking on the occasion, Shabbir Ahmad Dar said the United Nations had accepted Kashmir as an international dispute and passed resolutions for its settlement. He said the intransigent stance of India is the main hurdle in settling the lingering dispute.

He said Kashmir is a disputed area that has been illegally occupied by India since October 27, 1947. No peace can be guaranteed in South Asia unless Kashmir dispute is amicably settled by the parties, namely Pakistan India and Kashmir leadership.

He said that United Nations could play a constructive role in facilitating meaningful dialogue between Pakistan, India and the Kashmirs for the final resolution of the dispute.
