Srinagar, October 28 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Hurriyat forum led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has denounced the puppet authorities for imposing restrictions in Srinagar and barring people from offering prayers at historic Jamia Masjid for the fifth consecutive week.

The forum spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the authorities’ action was vindictive and tantamount to the direct interference in religious affairs of the people. These means of oppression are used under a well-planned policy to crush the resolve of people besides destroying the economy of Srinagar to punish the people for their unflinching support to the liberation movement, he said.

The spokesman termed the 27th October as the most unfortunate day in the history of Kashmir and said, when people of Kashmir were observing the day as a black day, the authorities again turned to their traditional approach of curbing the dissent by imposing curfew and strict restrictions on the movement of the people.

The spokesman also condemned the authorities for keeping Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house detention to curb his social, political and religious activities and prevent him from offering the Friday prayers.

Condemning the puppet regime for resorting to frequent imposition of curfew in Srinagar and caging a huge population in their homes, he said the dictatorial attitude adopted by the authorities is aimed at weakening the popular political sentiment of the people of Kashmir.

“Kashmir stands as an internationally accepted dispute and the people of Kashmir are struggling for their basic right, the right to self-determination, from the past seven decades. The implementation of UN resolutions or a meaningful dialogue among India, Pakistan and the people of Kashmir is the way forward to resolve this issue,” he maintained.
