The civil society members included Advocate Hafizullah Mir; Chief Audit Officer (Retired), Abdul Raheem Malik; former bureaucrat, Ghulam Rasool Malik; renowned columnist, M J Lone; and former General Manager of JK Bank, Syed Abdul Hamid.

During the meeting, the civil society members said that the NIA had been harassing the family members of Syed Salahuddin.

The civil society members demanding immediate release of Syed Salahuddin’s son Syed Shahid Yousuf and cancellation of NIA summon to grandson of the Hizb Chief said that if harassment continued it would have serious ramifications. They said that the NIA should hand over all the cell phones and laptops of the family seized during a raid at Soibugh in Budgam. We will court arrest and the responsibility of any untoward happening will lie with the puppet administration, they said.

It is to mention here that the NIA had arrested one of Syed Salahuddin’s sons, Syed Shahid Yousuf, earlier this week after summoning him its headquarters in New Delhi. Later, a Delhi court sent Syed Shahid Yousuf to seven days NIA custody.

The NIA has also summoned Syed Salahuddin’s grandson, Muzammil Ahmad Khan, for questioning in Delhi. Muzammil Ahmad Khan, only son of Salahuddin’s daughter, has done his B.Tech from Pakistan and puts up at Daharmuna, two kilometers from Syed Salahuddin’s ancestral home.
