Srinagar, October 31 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Kashmir Valley-based mutton dealers staged a protest in Srinagar against harassment by goons at Madhopur in Indian state of Punjab.

The protesters said goons on Lakhanpur-Madhopur-Pathankot road extort Rs 30,000 from the Kashmiri truckers in the name of cattle tax.

The protesters asked the puppet regime to send a team to the Punjab and seek a clarification from the government of the Indian state on the illegal tax being levied on mutton dealers of occupied Kashmir.

The General Secretary of All Kashmir Wholesale Mutton Dealers Association, Meraj-ud-Din Ganai said that the local goons at Madhopur beat and harassed the truck drivers who opposed their demand for extortion.

President of All Kashmir Butchers Association, Haji Khizer Muhammad, said, “If at all the tax being levied is a notified one, then the authorities must ask Punjab government to roll it back.”
