Demos in Srinagar, Pulwama against braid-chopping

New Delhi, October 07 (KMS): Illegally detained senior leader of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, has said that he is facing threat to his life in New Delhi’s infamous Tihar Jail.

Shabbir Ahmed Shah in an application moved through his counsel, Advocate M S Khan, to a Delhi court sought its directions to the Tihar Jail authorities to shift him to the high-risk ward. In the application moved before Additional Sessions Judge, Sidharth Sharma, he also said that the jail authorities were not providing him proper medical facilities. The court sought a response from the jail authorities on the application by 13th October. Another illegally detained Hurriyat leader, Nayeem Ahmed Khan, was shifted to a hospital after his health deteriorated in Tihar Jail. »

Srinagar, October 07 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the students of Women’s College Maulana Azad Road, Srinagar, held a protest, today, against the increasing incidents of braid-chopping in the territory.

The protesting students raised slogans inside the college premises against the continued incidents and demanded arrest of the culprits.

They were raising slogans against the braid-cutting incidents and asked the authorities to nab the culprits behind these criminal acts. »

Srinagar, October 07 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, disappointed at the total failure of the puppet administration to check the braid-chopping incidents, the people are holding night vigils to foil attacks of braid-choppers on women.

Local people have set up teams which keep night vigils and patrol through different villages and city areas. This practice was common during the 2016 mass uprising – triggered by the martyrdom of popular youth leader Burhan Wani – to prevent the arrest of youth by Indian police. »

Traders hold sit-in against police atrocities

Srinagar, October 07 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, traders in Islamabad town staged a sit-in protest, today, against atrocities of Indian police.

Shutdown is also being observed in the town on the call of traders’ association.

The traders, who staged a sit-in at Lal Chowk, told media that the police lobbed teargas shells inside their shops at Reshi Bazar during protests on Friday. They said that some shopkeepers were roughed up by the police while six were detained.

The protesting traders demanded an end to police atrocities and transfer of the local SHO.

Srinagar, October 07 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani has expressed serious concern over fresh arrest spree, harassment of political leaders and humiliation by the Indian police during nocturnal raids.

Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar said that ahead of call given by Joint Resistance Leadership for peaceful protests on Friday, the police arrested and raided residences of several Hurriyat leaders including the APHC Chief Spokesman Ghulam Ahmad Gulzar, while Hakeem Abdul Rasheed and Muhammad Ashraf Laya were arrested on Thursday and lodged in police stations. »

Srinagar, October 07 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, a Special Police Officer (SPO) of Indian police was injured in an attack in Kupwara district.

Unidentified gunmen opened fire after barging into the house of the SPO at Hanjin in Handwara area of the district, causing injuries to him. A minor son of the SPO was also wounded in the attack.

Srinagar, October 07 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, a youth was injured after Indian troops fired upon him without any reason in Mendher area of Poonch district.

The family members of the youth identified as Muhammad Yasir (18) of Balnoi area of Mendhar told media that they were busy in cutting grass for cattle in their fields, when a bullet hit their son and he fell down.

“The bullet hit his leg,” one of the family members said while wishing not to be named. He said, Indian army fired towards the youth and he was wounded. »

Srinagar, October 07 (KMS): The family members of Illegally detained Hurriyat leader and the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir National Front, Nayeem Ahmed Khan, have said that he was shifted to a Delhi hospital after his health deteriorated in Tihar Jail.

Nayeem Ahmed Khan’s family in a statement in Srinagar said that he had been seriously ill for the past some days. “During the intervening night of 5th and 6th October, his condition further deteriorated and he had to be shifted to Deen Dayal Upadiyay hospital. »

Hurriyat leaders detained, Srinagar Jamia Majid sealed

Srinagar, October 06 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, people including women staged massive demonstrations across the territory, today, to protest against the incessant braid-chopping incidents calling it a conspiracy masterminded by the Indian agencies to create sense of insecurity and fear-psychosis among the masses particularly womenfolk.

Call for the demonstrations was given by the Joint Resistance leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik. The puppet authorities imposed restrictions in Srinagar and sealed Jamia Masjid, disallowing the Juma prayers at the historic mosque. Mobile, internet and train services were suspended. In the new method of state terrorism, the agents of Indian security agencies barge into the houses, use chemicals to make women unconscious and then cut their braids. »
