Srinagar, November 05 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Mass Movement (JKMM) and Jammu and Kashmir Tehreek-e-Mazahmat paid glowing tributes to the martyrs of Jammu.

Hundreds of thousands of Kashmiris were killed by the forces of Maharaja Hari Singh, Indian army and Hindu extremists in different parts of Jammu region while they were migrating to Pakistan during the first week of November in 1947.

The JKMM Chairperson, Farida Behenji in a statement issued in Srinagar said that on November 6, 1947 the Muslims of Jammu were massacred and till now the authorities were killing the innocent people of the territory.

The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Tehreek-e-Mazahmat, Bilal Siddiqui in his statement in Srinagar, commemorating the Jammu martyrs, said that over 3 lakh Muslims were brutally massacred in Jammu in the first week of November 1947.

“It is the holocaust and sad chapter of our history,” Siddiqui said and added that fascists and communal forces backstabbed the innocents and even grabbed their properties and belongings.

He said that to pay homage to the Jammu martyrs, party had announced a programme in Surankoot Jammu and dignitaries and prominent speakers including Shareef Sartaj and others were expected to pay homage to these martyrs, however police authorities barred party activists and warned provincial president of party Haneef Kalas, of dire consequences, in case the event is organised.

Denouncing authorities for their autocratic and haughty approach, Bilal Siddiqui said that it was unconstitutional and illogical to stop people from organising peaceful event.
