Srinagar, November 07 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, deputy Grand Mufti of Kashmir, Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam while paying tributes to Jammu martyrs has said that when Indians were celebrating independence, Muslims in Jammu were facing brutal massacre at the hands of Indian troops, forces of Dogra Maharaja and Hindu extremists.

Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam in a statement issued in Srinagar said that Jammu massacre was the worst tragedy in the history of mankind.

He said that tens of thousands of Muslims were killed by Dogra army and Indian forces with the help of communal groups like Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in the first week of November 1947 when they were migrating to Pakistan.

“These forces carried out shameful barbaric act against humanity that cannot be forgotten,” Mufti Nasir said and added that cycle of killings of unarmed Kashmiri youth fighting for right to self-determination and destruction of property continued unabated in the Kashmir Valley.

In recent times, he added, thousands were maimed with pellets and many lost their eyesight. He said that Kashmir was a long-pending dispute, which needed solution as per the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam reiterated his pledge that the sacrifices rendered by the Kashmiri martyrs would not be allowed to go waste.
