Resistance leadership says there is police Raj in IOK

Srinagar, November 15 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian police arrested over two dozen Hurriyat leaders and activists including Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik from Aabi Guzar area of Srinagar, today.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik had reached at the head office of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front to lead a protest march and a sit-in protest at Lal Chowk against Indian atrocities on the people and the plight of Kashmiri detainees in jails.

As soon as the leaders after addressing a press conference tried to proceed towards Lal Chowk, a huge contingent of Indian police stopped and arrested them. People raised pro-Pakistan, pro-freedom and anti-India slogans on the occasion. The protesters condemned military operation in south Kashmir where people including women and children are being targeted in houses. They asked Indian authorities to stop inhuman attitude towards illegally detained Kashmiris in jails and demanded their release.

Over two dozen Hurriyat leaders and activists including Hakeem Abdur Rasheed, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash, Hilal Ahmad War, Ghulam Nabi Zaki, Showkat Ahmad Bakhshi, Syed Imtiaz Haider, Omar Aadil Dar, Rameez Raja, Mukhtar Ahmad Sofi, Muhammad Yasin Attai, Firdous Ahmad Shah, Muhammad Yasin Butt, Zahoor Ahmad Butt, Muhammad Siddiq Shah, Nisar Hussain Rathar, Muhammad Ashraf Changal, Shabbir Ahmad, Firdous Ahmad Wani, Zahoor Ahmad, Bashir Kashmiri, Farooq Ahmad and Merajuddin were also arrested. The arrestees were lodged at Kothi Bagh police station in Srinagar.

Earlier, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik addressed a press conference. The APHC Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani telephonically addressed the press conference from his residence. The leaders condemned the raids and arrests by India’s National Investigation Agency, brutalities of Indian forces in South and North Kashmir and the repeated invoking of black law, Public Safety Act, against unlawfully detained leaders. They said that there was police raj in occupied Kashmir. They criticized puppet Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, for adhering to RSS ideology in Kashmir.

Earlier, Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik addressed people at Aabi Guzar Masjid. Syed Ali Gilani addressed the people over phone from his residence.
