Srinagar, November 17 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), Muhammad Yasin Malik has said that Indian democracy believes in suppressing people’s voices through use of brute force.

Muhammad Yasin Malik addressing a gathering at historical Khanqah-e-Mualla in Srinagar, today, said that thousands of Kashmiris including young and old were languishing in jails and other detention centres and their lives had been turned into a hell.

He termed the slapping of draconian law, Public Safety Act (PSA), for the 36th time on senior APHC leader, Masarrat Aalam Butt and shifting him back to Kot Bhalwal Jail in Jammu as a glaring act of dictatorship in the garb of so-called democracy. He said on daily basis young boys and other people are being sent to jails under the PSA.

Denouncing the charge-sheeting of senior APHC leader Shabbir Ahmad Shah under false charges, the JKLF Chairman said that India was using the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Enforcement Directorate (ED) to terrorize the Kashmiris. “They (Indian authorities) want to put us into submission by terrorizing, arresting, maligning and oppressing us but we want to tell them that Kashmiris will never bow down before their oppression and tyranny and will continue their struggle and resistance at all costs,” he said.

The JKLF Chairman said this Khanqah is of paramount importance for every Kashmiri as it belongs to a great saint Shah-e-Hamadan (RA) who not only revolutionized our religious lives but also transformed our economy by exposing us to various new trades and means. The Khanqah-e-Mualla was severely damaged during a blaze a few days ago.

Earlier, Yasin Malik offered Friday prayers at the shrine.
