Srinagar, November 17 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), Syed Ali Gilani, has said that India is continuing its illegal hold on Jammu and Kashmir by dint of over seven hundred thousand troops, a biased judiciary and communal media.

Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the people of occupied territory were being subjected to the worst kind of human rights violations.

He strongly condemned the shifting of senior APHC leader, Masarrat Aalam Butt, to Kot Bhalwal Jail in Jammu after booking him under draconian law, Public Safety Act, framing of charges against another senior APHC leader, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, and extension of judicial remand of Hurriyat leaders, Altaf Ahmed Shah, Ayaz Muhammad Akbar, Peer Saifullah, Raja Merajuddin Kalwal, Farooq Ahmed Dar, Shahid-ul-Islam and Nayeem Ahmed Khan in Delhi’s infamous Tihar Jail. He termed these actions as the worst form of political vendetta.

He said that similarly there was no justification of the imprisonment of Syed Salahuddin’s son, Shahid Yousuf, photo journalist, Kamran Yousuf and trader, Zahoor Ahmad in the New Delhi’s Tihar jail.

Syed Ali Gilani also denounced the detention of an eighty-year-old man, Shah Wali Mohammad. He deplored that the aged man had been deprived of basic amenities in the cold weather. He said his wife is a cancer patient while his daughter is paralyezed and there is no one to look after them.

The APHC Chairman said that other Hurriyat leaders and activists, Mohammad Yusuf Mir, Aasiya Andrabi, Fehmeeda Sofi, Dr Mohammad Shafi Shariati, Dr Mohammad Qasim, Ghulam Qadir Butt, Abdul Ahad Parra, Mohammad Rafique Ganai, Abdul Ghani Butt, Ameer Hamza Shah, Mohammad Yusuf Falahi, Mir Hafeezullah, Mohammad Yusuf Lone, Raees Ahmad Mir, Shakeel Ahmad Yatoo, Mohammad Rustam Butt, Mohammad Ramzan Butt, Ghulam Mohammad Khan Sopori, Mohammad Ramzan Khan, Dr Ghulam Mohammad Butt, Muzaffar Ahmad Dar, Farooq Ahmad Tauheedi, Sajjad Ahmad Butt, Mushtaq Ahmad Ganai, Salman Yusuf, Manzoor Ahmad Kallu and Ghulam Mohammad Tantray had been languishing in different jails and demanded their immediate release.
