11th class student injured in pellet firing by troops

Srinagar, November 25 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference held a demonstration at Hyderpora in Srinagar against the inhuman treatment being meted out to the Kashmiri political prisoner lodged in various jails of the territory and India.

A large number of Hurriyat leaders and activists including Hakeem Abdul Rasheed, Muhammad Yusuf Naqash, Bilal Siddiqi, Zamruda Habib, Yasmeen Raja, Bashir Ahmed Irfani, Bashir Ahmed Qureshi, Muhammad Yasin Attai, Khawaja Firdous and Syed Imtiyaz Hyder participated in the protest. Addressing on the occasion, the leaders appealed to the world human rightist organizations to take cognizance of the plight of Kashmiri political detainees and use their good offices for their immediate release. They expressed serious concern over the deteriorating heath of Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Peer Saifullah, Altaf Ahmed Shah, Raja Merajuddin Kalwal, Ayaz Akbar, Shahid-ul-Islam, Nayeem Ahmed Khan and Farooq Ahmed Dar in New Delhi’s Tihar Jail.

The High Court Bar Association of the occupied territory in a statement in Srinagar expressed concern over the miserable plight of the Kashmiri detainees languishing in different prisons particularly those lodged in Tihar Jail.

The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Movement, Mir Shahid Saleem, addressing a party meeting in Jammu and the Democratic Freedom Party in a statement in Srinagar demanded immediate release of all illegally detained Kashmiris including Hurriyat leaders and activists.

On the other hand, an 11th class student, Zahid Ahmed, was critically injured after he was fired upon by Indian troops with pellet gun in Nawa Kadal area of Srinagar. The 16-year-old Zahid Ahmed was shifted to the SMHS Hospital in Srinagar in a critical condition with severe pellet injuries. The doctors attending on him said that hundreds of pellets had pierced the right part of his abdomen.

Indian troops have launched massive cordon and search operations in Bawan, Kutlari Mawar, Chandigam and Jagerpora areas of Kupwara district and at Astan Mohalla in Kakapora area of Pulwama district, causing huge inconvenience to the local people.

In New Delhi, a human rights group, Peoples Union for Democratic Rights, in a statement condemned the slapping of draconian law, Public Safety Act for 36th time on senior APHC leader, Masarrat Aalam Butt.
