Jammu, November 25 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Movement (JKPM) has demanded immediate release of all Kashmiri political prisoners languishing in different jails of the occupied territory and India.

APHC leader and the JKPM Chairman, Mir Shahid Saleem, addressing a party meeting in Jammu said, there are reports of ill treatment meted out to the political detainees lodged in New Delhi’s Tihar Jail and other prisons.

He said that family sources of some ailing leaders had revealed that the inmates were being denied basic facilities including medicines and proper check-ups that had led to the deterioration of their health to an alarming proportion. He said that health condition of several detained including Hurriyat leaders, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Altaf Ahmed Shah, Ayaz Akbar and Peer Saifullah was worsening with every passing day.

The JKPM Chairman appealed to the international human rights bodies to highlight the problems and difficulties being faced by the Kashmiri detainees. He said that the Indian government on one hand was engaged in a cosmetic exercise of initiating dialogue process but on the other, had caged entire leadership representing aspirations of the Kashmiris.

Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party in a statement in Srinagar urged India to take concrete steps to resolve the lingering Kashmir dispute instead of using deceptive and oppressive measures to crush the Kashmiris’ just struggle of freedom. It said that no oppressive measure could work in resolving the Kashmir dispute. “No cosmetic measures or financial package can prove fruitful unless a bold political step is initiated by the Indian government,” it added.

Hurriyat leader, Bilal Siddiqee, in his statement in Srinagar condemned the continued illegal detention of Hurriyat leader, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Nayeem Ahmed Khan, Altaf Ahmed Shah, Masarrat Aalam Butt, Aasiya Andrabi, Peer Saifullah, Merajuddin Kalwal, Shahid-ul-Islam, Kamran Yousuf, Mushtaq-ul-Islam, Ghulam Muhammad Khan Sopori, Farooq Tawheedi and Fehmeeda Sofi.
