Srinagar, November 26 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the High Court Bar Association (HCBA) will abstain from court work tomorrow (Monday) to protest against the ill-treatment of Kashmiri prisoners in India and the territory.

The HCBA in a statement condemned the thrashing of Kashmiri prisoners in New Delhi’s Tihar Jail and asked the jail authorities to ensure safety and security of the prisoners at all costs.

It stated that more than 45 Kashmiri prisoners had been sentenced to life imprisonment and most of them had completed over 20 years in prison but they were not being released though in Kashmir the period of life imprisonment is only 20 years.

Tehreek-e-Mazahmat Chairman, Bilal Siddiqui in a statement also condemned the inhuman treatment meted out to the prisoners. KMS—4A
