Srinagar, November 28 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, one of the 18 victims of police assault on the night of November 21 in Delhi’s Tihar Jail appeared before a court in Sopore area of Baramulla, today.

Ahtesham Ahmed, a resident of Batpora Sopore, was produced before the court in an old case registered against him. In his late 20s, Ahtesham was brought to Srinagar on Monday from where he was driven to Sopore this morning.

A witness of the court proceedings in the court of sessions judge Sopore told media that the judge directed police to get Ahtesham treated at the hospital as marks of injuries were visible on his body. He was taken to sub-district hospital Sopore where he is being given treatment.

It may be recalled that a unit of Tamil Nadu Special Police (TSP) had beaten as many as 18 jail inmates of Tihar Jail, among whom most are Kashmiri prisoners including Shahid Yousuf, son of Syed Salahuddin.

Yesterday (Monday), the Delhi High Court had directed Tihar Jail authorities to get all the victims specially treated at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi.

The court will listen to the proceedings of the case after three weeks following another report by a newly constituted committee which is led by a district and sessions judge.
